How I do it
I start with the learning sciences. Building content that can be used in ways that people naturally learn means that users will find the materials intuitive.
I also think about backward design, Universal Design for Learning and accessibility so that all users connect with the materials in an equitable manner.
Additionally, I focus on challenging learners with the right amount of rigor so students are intrinsically motivated to learn and feel invigorated by the process.
Tools I use
Learning Management Systems
PowerPoint and Word
Website design software
Learning is difficult to avoid. Humanity is built for for learning, and all people are learning at almost every moment. It is one of the most natural, automatic elements of being a person.
Why then do so many people think of formal learning as boring, difficult, tedious and not worth time?
This is what I like working on. I want to find ways to inspire, intrigue and motivate people to engage in learning environments because they find it deeply satisfying and worth their time.
